Frequently Asked Questions
Are my pets insured while travelling?
Yes, Pet Shuttles is insured and covered for all pets that we transport
Do I need my own insurance for my pet?
All customers are encouraged to obtain Pet Insurance for their personal animals through other specialised insurance providers. These insurances offer cover for unexpected situations that would not be covered by our Public Liability or our insurances. However, it is very important to read information they provide as some policies do not cover your pet during transport and may not cover them while they are at a young age. We strongly recommend you talk to your breeder regarding “Breeder Insurance” or obtain your own Pet Insurance prior to your pet leaving the breeders, as issues or problems with your pets can be expected to occur within its first few months, if they occur. We also encourage customers to talk with breeders and make sure the breeders operate under Australian Consumer law to ensure that your pup is healthy.
Will the driver contact me when they collect my animal?
Our driver’s do big hours on the road and will not be able to contact you directly for check in’s or general enquiry’s. They will however call the customer/breeder when they are on their way to the next customer/breeder, if the driver encounters any issues with contacting the customers/breeder for collection/delivery, we will contact all clients involved in the job. So, if you do not hear from anyone, it means that everything has gone according to plan, and you will hear from the driver once it is safe for him to contact you.You are of course welcome to message our general work phone during business hours 8am-4pm during the trip to check on your pets travel. Please be patient though as we need to contact the driver and the drivers do have limitations at times on their communication due to the fact they are driving. Our work number can be contacted outside of work hours but we stress to only contact it after work hours for emergencies.
Can I check on my animal during transport? Can the driver send me photos?
Prior to transport, we send all our customers a text or email with the collection/delivery details from our work number. Unfortunately, our drivers cannot get pictures as they do quite big hours and spend their breaks making sure the dogs have water and are happy. On special requests our driver may be able to, but in most cases, this cannot be guaranteed.
Do I need to vaccinate my animal to travel?
Yes… Even though Pet Shuttles are insured, it is entirely the owners responsibility to ensure that their own animal has had appropriate vaccinations.During the transportation pets may come into contact with other pets on that run and may be walked in public places. Young animals are not considered to be fully vaccinated until 2 weeks after their final vaccination at around 16 weeks or later. We will not be held liable for the owners failure to ensure appropriate protection for their pets.We are more than happy to discuss the various vaccinations required for each animal.
